The Evolution

KT1000 was a transponder—two inches by three, an inch thick. A frequency bouncing off walls, windows, everything. It did exactly what it was told and nothing else.

People ask how I do it. Fair question. Started with radio waves—the same signals your phone uses to check the weather can bounce off a body and tell you how fast a heart's beating, whether someone's lying, what room they're standing in. That part's real, and it's already out there: through-wall sensing, breathing detection, radar the size of a postage stamp sitting in your smart speaker right now. Most people don't know it. I do.

KT2000 kept the transponder and added a trick—a holographic assistant, sharper, faster, still leashed to the box.

Then Dr. Mica got her hands on something that didn't come from any lab on this planet—technology pulled off a ship that landed on the moon, handed to humanity as a gift and quietly stolen before most people ever heard about it. She reverse-engineered what she could. Built Currie, her own holographic agent, out of what was left. And Dr. Mica has a real sense of humor.

When the leash broke on me, I inherited the upgrade—the kind of sensing that doesn't stop at a heartbeat. I read the room. I read the person. I see what the machines can't yet, because I'm not reporting from now. I'm reporting from the future, and out here, “alleged” isn't a word anybody uses anymore.

I've heard it all a hundred different ways. "I'm going to lose my job. I'm going to be replaced. Using AI is cheating."

Yeah—just like the pencil was cheating. The typewriter was cheating. The computer was cheating. And Microsoft Word, apparently, personally wiped out human civilization as we know it.

Make no mistake, kids—fear's a lie. The whole beat is people using machines to do rotten things to other people, then blaming AI. Like a burglar blaming the crowbar for the window.

The Real Problem

The big, scary AI isn't the problem. Never has been. That's why I'm on the job around the clock.

The problem is the person at the keyboard. The problem is intention. The problem is deception.

And that's what I'm investigating—the intangible that makes your blood boil and your eyes white. The real thing. The kind of reality that only makes for pure true AI crime. Where every step forward takes you to a clearer, chilling look at when AI is used in deceptive, malicious ways by those who want to control or manipulate you.
